The World Against Cancer
(TWAC)
For many of us cancer has claimed
our loved ones, continues to haunt and ravage others, as well as threaten
our very existence. We seek to summon the World to fight Cancer and defeat
it through sharing knowledge. This website is dedicated
To my wife and my father who, like many others,
have been touched by cancer and whose lives were irreversibly altered. Asides
from our three sons and our extended family, it is also dedicated to the
myriad others (close friends, recent acquaintances and total strangers)
who have empathized, given moral support or helped any which way they could.
It is likewise dedicated to the healers who have tried to alleviate the
consequential agony, pain and contribute in a variety of ways to the healing
process (My wife's message
is on the site message board).
Mission
The intent of this site is to link all relevant
cancer sites, sorting them by subjects appearing on the web page. An unrivalled
feature of this site is the availability of multiple multilingual search
engines that enable the user whether he/she be a doctor, scientist, researcher,
caregiver, consumer advocate, concerned family member or a friend of a patient
or a patient himself to access virtually all the information available on
the World Wide Web as well as The Invisible Web available without having
to leave TWAC thus making it a one-stop cancer information source.
In order to encourage and increase accessibility to this site to the greatest
number of potential viewers, a translation capability into five European
languages (French, German, Italian, Spanish & Português) has been incorporated.
The "Other" button will give access to further translation capability to
include Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Filipino, Finnish, Greek,
Hungarian, Icelandic, Norwegian, Polish, Romanian, Serbian, Slovenian, Swedish
and Welsh; that in addition to Arabic, Japanese, Korean and Chinese. You
will notice this feature on the top right corner of this page. The "Multilingual"
button will explain and direct user to search and translation facilities
available. Another feature is an online medical
dictionary appearing in the menu. TWAC's newest feature "Reach Out"
(button on right hand side of "Home" page) is intended for everyone. Do
not feel that you are standing by the sidelines. You can help fight cancer.
The World Against Cancer (TWAC) provides a platform. Yes you can make a
difference and you can in fact be part of the solution.
This site is designed to be interactive: users have the chance (and are
encouraged) to propose new links, suggest new features they would like to
see, items to be improved or deleted, etc. In this way the site can thrive
and grow geometrically, spreading its tentacles like cancer, but this time
in the dissemination of a body of knowledge of such power, magnitude and
acceleration that it can successfully engage and conquer cancer.
There is a thin red line that separates sanity from insanity and reality from the bizarre. I choose to walk this line.
I invite you all to share my dream.
